Disorder

_Disorder is an original creation by Field A1. It grew from the intent to explore a delicate subject, mental illness, starting from the direct experience of those who live with it. The need to tell that subjective point of view took shape, for Onirica Lights Festival, as a site-specific installation on the facade of the Covo degli Arditi, a former psychiatric hospital in Potenza.

The show takes us through every stage of institutionalization firsthand: from the trauma of involuntary committal to the total annihilation of the self, through states of mind ruled by fear, anger, anxiety, and paranoia. The original score, composed by Francesco Fatale, played a key role in shaping the content, carrying those powerful emotions to the audience. Raw and direct, _Disorder aims to shed light on the condition, and on the abuse, endured by people living with mental disorders.

_Disorder is the voice of those who are heard but not listened to; the eyes of those who are looked at but not seen. It is whoever feels alone in a crowd, and accompanied in their madness.
