An immersive installation for exploring the nature and identity of Basilicata.
In the heart of Matera, inside the Basilicata Region's main visitor center, Field A1, at the request of Onirica Srl and the local institutions, built an immersive multimedia room dedicated to discovering the Lucanian Parks. Part of the Programma Ambiente Basilicata, the project serves as a new tourist attraction, offering visitors an engaging, enchanting experience. The installation grows out of the drawings of artist Raffaele Pentasuglia, transformed into immersive animations that wrap around the audience, guiding them through breathtaking landscapes, ancient traditions, and unique natural scenery. The room is also interactive: from an on-screen menu, visitors choose which chapters to play and the audio language, composing their own journey every time.
Blending digital technology and artistic storytelling, the room offers an emotional journey that showcases the beauty and magic of Basilicata's five parks. With more than 62,000 visitors from around the world in 2023 alone, the immersive room stands as an innovative example of sustainable regional promotion. The project not only celebrates the region's environmental heritage but also builds awareness of conservation and responsible tourism.
Through this experience, visitors are completely surrounded by moving images, forging a deep connection between art, nature, and culture. Viaggio nei Parchi Lucani is more than an installation: it is a bridge between past and future, reality and imagination, inviting people to rediscover Basilicata from a new, immersive perspective.
